Send a message to yourself
July 13th, 2009 Posted 12:28 am
A while back I stumbled across a website that allows you to send your future self an email.
http://www.futureme.org
The way it works is you type yourself a message and it will be stored for a number of years before it is delivered. Kind of like a time capsule. I decided to try it out and I decided to set the timer for 40 years from now. after sitting there for a few minuets trying to come up with something to tell my future self i realized that unless i somehow lose my memory i will undoubtedly already know everything i currently know… plus lots more. So i settled on describing my current life and asking myself stupid questions. I’m sure it will make me laugh when I’m 63 checking my email with my implanted Google internet brain computer.
So this got me thinking about the dangers of time travel again. Time travel? Dangerous you say? Hell yeah it would be dangerous. And im not talking about dangerously awesome like “Back To The Future”. All kinds of horrible things could happen. Too many to list here, at least not tonight. I don’t think we really need to worry about it yet.
But all dangers aside. It would be totally awesome to be able to send a message to yourself in the past. What would you tell yourself? Warnings of terrible things to come? Like a personal Nostradamus?
“Don’t hold that gas can so close to the fire”
“Tell her you love her”
“Buy stock in Microsoft and Google”
“Shoot this person with ice bullets and save mom from the owls at the circus”
Well you gotta have at least one wrong one right? Otherwise the Christians will think your a witch and burn you to death.
I am curious, Leave me a comment.
What would you tell your past you in an email?
